Nothing makes a teacher happier than hearing the students say, "That was so fun! Can we do that again tomorrow?" When they don't even realizing that they are learning, but just think they are having fun..that is why I love teaching! My third grade walk-to group played the Cause and Effect game with partners. They had so much fun and were begging to keep playing, even after I let them stay a few minutes later than usual. It was fun and friendly competition, but they worked hard to practice their reading skills, too! The first grade students had fun practicing their spelling words in shaving cream!

Learning is more fun when you get to work with your friends! The 4th and 5th grade students in my walk-to groups are working on the comprehension skill of making predictions. I decided to add in some writing practice this week. The students were seated in groups and given several dice with pictures on them. Together, they used these pictures as prompts to create a story. Each student would write for one minute, then move the paper to the next person. Their creativity definitely shined in this activity as the stories were exciting to read! The 3rd graders are working on cause and effect. After writing different causes and effects from situations given to them, they had to work together to match statements. It was fun to see them problem solve to reach a goal! This week was full of fun since it was Halloween! My first grade students used chalk to create skeletons. They added special touches to make the skeletons unique. After drawing, the students gave their skeletons names and wrote about what they like to do on Halloween night. I love their creativity! Every Thursday, we practice spelling words. These words are often sight words that will help the students with reading. This week, we did some hands-on learning by using the letter tiles. The students enjoyed the challenge of finding their letters and rearranging them to create new words.
