My second grade walk-to group just finished reading Cam Jansen and the Mystery Writer Mystery. We had great discussions throughout the book about our predictions. The students created their own quiz questions and I compiled them into an online Kahoot! quiz. Today, we went to the computer lab and the laughter was endless. The students had so much fun with this friendly competition to practice reading comprehension! My third grade walk-to group is focusing on comparing and contrasting texts. I took them to the computer lab this week, where they were able to read two texts on similar topics. Then, they practiced typing comparisons and contrasts between the two stories. This skill will be helpful in so many ways!

This week, I was searching for a hands-on way for students to practice reading skills and came across a set of Versa-Tiles. The students work together to answer questions from a workbook, then place tiles on a board to create a pattern. My favorite part of using these materials is that the students can check their work independently based on the pattern that is created on the back of the tiles! I can't wait to use these with my 1st graders next week, too!
My second grade walk-to group just started reading the chapter book, Cam Jansen and the Mystery Writer Mystery. They are taking turns reading the paragraphs aloud to each other while also thinking about questions that can be made into a quiz at the end of the book. Their curiosity is already shining! The first grade students played Roll, Add, Color - Halloween Style this week with a partner to practice addition facts. It was fun competition! |
