About Mrs. Mills
Background:
I am proud to say that I was raised in the wonderful, rural town of Paris, Illinois. I attended Crestwood School from Kindergarten through 8th grade. In 2010, I was a graduate from Paris Cooperative High School. As a child, I was always busy playing sports or enjoying time with family.
Education:
I graduated in December 2013 from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College: the oldest, all-women's, liberal arts Catholic college in the nation. My major is Kindergarten-6th Elementary Education with Mild Intervention, and my minor is Mathematics. In February 2013, I started my professional career as an Intervention Teacher at Meadows Elementary School. I worked with students ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade in reading and mathematics, then was given the opportunity to have my own classroom of fifth graders. My first year of teaching was at Shiloh School in a second grade classroom. While teaching at Shiloh, I was the Junior High Volleyball Head Coach and High School Softball Assistant Coach.
I began working at Crestwood School in 2015 and spent my first year as the junior high special education teacher and LBS 1 interim. Then, I spent 2 wonderful years teaching third grade. I'm now a Title 1 Reading and Math teacher and serve as the Curriculum Director, MTSS/PBIS Coordinator, NJHS Sponsor, Volleyball Coach, Scholastic Bowl Coach, and After School Program Coordinator.
I graduated with my Master's degree in Elementary Education with a focus on Reading Instruction from Indiana State University in May 2016. Then, I enrolled in the Curriculum and Instruction Ph.D. program at Indiana State University where I specialized in Literacy and Post-Secondary Instruction and completed all course work ABD. Starting in the Fall of 2023, I will begin my Educational Specialist degree in Educational Diagnostician at Northwest Missouri State University.
